Shortage subjects in Scotland (2025)

Scotland faces critical shortfalls in several Secondary subjects. Maths had only 75 trainees against a target of 250; Physics had 42 against 131; Computing had just 16 against 52 (SLS Scotland, May 2025). Some local authorities offer additional financial incentives for shortage subject teachers.
