The week before
- Sign up to My Qualifications Scotland at my.qualifications.gov.scot — it is the only way to get results by text and email. The 2027 closing date is not yet published (2026 closed 15 July), so do it now
- Write down the 10-digit UCAS Personal ID (from the UCAS Hub)
- Save the UCAS Clearing number: 0371 468 0468
- List 3–4 back-up courses you would genuinely consider in Clearing
- Check whether school is open on 10 August for Clearing support
- Confirm the SAAS application is submitted and not waiting on documents
On the morning
- Check UCAS Hub first thing — take a few minutes to process before deciding anything
- Offer missed? The student (not a parent) calls the firm university before Clearing opens
- Both choices unsuccessful? Go into Clearing the same morning with UCAS ID and grades ready
- Borderline grade with evidence? Speak to guidance staff about a priority appeal that morning
- Nothing right in Clearing? S6 retakes and HNC/HND college routes are real options
- Place confirmed? Check SAAS status, accept accommodation, open a student bank account
