Chemical engineering is the engineering degree that wants Chemistry rather than Physics — pupils who drop Chemistry after S4 close this door without knowing it. Four Scottish universities offer accredited degrees at grades a full band below medicine, and the Grangemouth refinery closure has not removed the employers: pharmaceuticals, whisky, water and the new hydrogen and carbon-capture projects all hire from these courses.
